I love the simple but stunning editorial that this image comes from, ‘X-Couture’ from Vogue Italia’s September 1999 Couture Supplement. This image of Malgosia Bela (well, at least the lower quarter of her face) in Yves Saint Laurent Fall/Winter 1999 couture is impeccably lit. I love the oily, futuristic feel of this image, achieved by combining body make-up with unique lighting effects.

Moving on to more impressive stuff now. I really like this shot of Emily Sandberg, shot by Steven Klein. Klein’s studio imagery can be really impressive; particularly when the hair, make-up and lighting is on point like it is here. I can’t remember who designed the look she is wearing (perhaps Valentino Haute Couture?), but the image is taken from an editorial called ‘X-Couture’, taken from Vogue Italia’s September 1999 Couture Supplement.
